You don't have to do them all, but the more you do the fuller your feed will become.

You can share follows, yes. Go to your server's website, then Preferences, then Import & Export, then the Export section and download the file for your follows.

You can share this file with other people, they can upload it to their account by going to Import & Export, then Import, then importing the file.

There's nothing similar for filters though.
