Apparently he thought of them as long-eared cats.

On the other hand, he also brought home dead wild rabbits that he had caught while he was "out and about" a few times. Of course we didn't want them in the house, so he consumed them under the rabbit enclosure in our backyard 😬

I put one in front of his face and it was if nothing was there. There was a cage between them, I would never endanger a bunny.
