I don’t intend to forget what that man did.

I want him to face the legal punishment he deserves (jail, all the jail, no more job) but even in the absence thereof, I think he’ll never really “get away with it” in the sense that so many of his fellow human beings know he’s guilty. And he knows it.

He knows deep down that any person passing him on the street might be thinking “murderer”.
