The MAGA SCOTUS majority's penchant for making up whatever legal mumbo jumbo they need to arrive at the result they want on cases they care about is 100% political no matter how many crocodile tears Roberts & co. shed.
And it's not like it's hard to know which cases these are.
Folks like Chris, Prof. Steve Vladeck and the trio of Strict Scrutiny Profs routinely pick apart their lawless, abjectly political decisions.

The problem is that literally 'breaking' the law for political ends offers no consequences of any substance, which is why people like Roberts continue to act as they do and gaslight when its pointed out. Until that changes; until oaths actually mean something and people lose position, privilege and power when they act in bad faith, nothing will change
