And I liked the original versions much better. Being scary and disturbing is the whole point of fairytales. It's the stuff grandmothers told their grandchildren to prepare them for a scary world.

Thise stories have been written by a teacher for his son to scare the sh*** out of him and make him more obedient.

Edit: Heinrich Hoffmann was a Doctor and Psychiatrist and not a Teacher.

That book became quiet popular later in raising children.

Today the educational attempt is seen as gruel and inappropiate.

I was always scared of the Thumpsucker story, though I never thucked my thump.

Read Grimms Fairytails too.

They never end in that nice Disney style.
