It's a recurring struggle to let it into the mind. I have a similar worry how the eventual push to place responsibility for the genocide will play out. It's a gruesome thing how the impulse to scapegoat also let's the one doing the scapegoating off the hook. We're all in some way responsible for what's happening - some entities more than others.
