This technology was made from our work, our labour, stolen from us, violating our consent and copyrights. Somehow without any legal consequences, and without any financial compensation made to us, but making billions in profits exploiting us.

I feel rage each time I see an AI-generated image.

Each time it's a reminder of how much people devalue the hard labour of artists and feel entitled to their work for free.

It's disgusting.

Something about it just feels wrong.

Its also an extra strong sign (but by no means the 1st) that I've got a values clash with the industry of which I'm a part!

Clearly our institutions don't care about simplicity, about efficient use of computation. Whereas for me that's precisely what I enjoy about software development!

Usually people understand the problem with creative works but see IA in coding fine because is used as a tool. Non-programers don't know all the efforts we put licensing our work. Code deserve the same respect and authoring as the words of a novel or a blog post.

I once had to leave a meetup because of it. I've been a visual artist, briefly was a programmer, and now I'm a writer. So that's 3 fields of work in which I've had (and still have) to deal with the damages caused by the AI hype. I'm tired.

Same for me as a writer seeing AI-generated writing. What’s more, for some reason the first thing everyone thinks of when hearing I’m a writer is to ask about AI. Ended up writing a blog post rant on it a week or two ago
