Yup, it's the same procedure on the official apps (and third party apps will have a settings section of some sort). Go to your profile, click "edit profile", then click 📷️ camera on your profile image.

There's a little camera icon on your avatar, which you can click to change it.

If you're using an app, I'm not sure as I don't use one.
