It’ll be an ever-moving target. in their full report, they talk about editors needing resources and training to keep on top of it, just like bank clerks have training to spot fraud (and it is fraud, if their submissions guidelines specifically disallow slop). It’s an easy mistake to make when you’re unaware of what to look for (and time-consuming to filter it when you are aware of what to look for, which also changes), and it’s unfair to expect readers to spot it.</p><p>I hate the idea of accusing indie writers without evidence, but the editors at Bona Books were clear they only thought to check thanks to help from their community.
