Night shift is usually 10-20 people. Two hundred people could shut a datacenter down with nothing but a Wikipedia article on fiber optics and some enthusiasm. Start swinging and you’ll hit something valuable pretty fast.

The "secure cages"? Chain link. The lobby's got badges and mancatchers and a guard who checks your ID like it insulted him. Out back it's a sliding metal door, propped open with a folding chair by whoever's waiting on FedEx.

It's not a fortress. It's a strip mall with better cable management.

Basically the only thing they add to your description is more doors that require keycard access, and it least one that scans your eyeballs.

The last one I was in required keycard access to get into the snack/break room for some reason. Because you needed proper security clearance to grab a Snickers and a Gatoraid I guess.

That place did have good snacks though.

true but drones are still loud af, also its silly to think they won’t be able to trace it back, especially if you decided to spend money digitally or have a trail online of you looking up drone stuff.

you can make it harder to pinpoint but if they’re determined and funded well enough they can probably find you :3

my previous suggestions aren’t bulletproof either.

also consider that orgs are trying to upgrade their security before this becomes a bigger issue so you may have to deal with measures that can spot you or your shenanigans outside the perimeter of the property.

One or two attacks on US data centers would likely jack up the insurance rates for all of them.

Stick them inside a robot body and they'll need either a constantly active high bandwidth low latency data connection to data centers (which I guess means overwhelming the cellular networks which would leave them intermittently failing as the networks struggled even to keep up) or run locally very very slowly and a battery life of 2 minutes. And then they'll mistake a picture on a wall for being a human and attack said wall for the 0.1 minutes they have left.

However, I could see some complete idiot putting one in charge of missiles or something and it triggers something when they told it to trigger something but don't actually. And I think we know who's really at fault then...

what is security gonna do, shoot all of the townsfolk? it'd be a scandal easily large enough to incite mass revolt ,they can't have that. Likewise the cops couldnt arrest everyone in an *entire town*, nor stop them by the time they get inside and destroy it all.

normally this sort of option isn't possible, but in this case it is for many data centers. would just need to convince the townspeople to ignore the law for a bit.

Secure cages are hilarious. One noc I used to use sold the company on all its biometric safeguards, but inside of a month, no palm, no retina, no otp... Just sign on a piece of paper in the lobby and roam around freely in a big room full of cages.
