as someone who frequently engages with trolls because it's so stupid it's funny (not recommended):

don't feel threatened

these are idiots

they can't bother you if you don't let them in

you engage in good faith. good

but when someone reply guys with bad faith:

code switch

laugh at them

you've removed all of their power

the realm of the troll is simple: entertainment over truth

flip the script and let them entertain *you* rather than they entertaining themselves at your expense

Except for that last part maybe! Be mindful though that some of that dunking may actually be synthetic agent clusters. See my most recent pinned post on the Ru disinformation engine's newest hotness. They're weaponized LLM's & human indistinguishable. Organized along loose packs that riff off each other., I speculate that if they're not doing something similar already, they will be soon. It's an obvious next step to spread their reach more rapidly.

The are no rules that apply 100% of the time, including this one ! And that is a fact sweetheart.
The “Rational Animal” is not only a myth but a lie.
Logic a tool of Grammar, not a magic wand, and the best way of coming to the wrong answer convinced its correct.
Humiliation is entirely subjective response in the humiliated beyond my control, though I do not set out to humiliate, so some folks will just make their minds to be humiliated whether I intend to or not.

Meanwhile every other site's primary content is screenshots where someone commented on ragebait, posted a 'clapback', then immediately screenshot it and cross posted it as 'x DESTROYED/RIPPED'. To be recycled the next day by content farm articles telling people what they want to here. The internet human centipede.
