UPDATE: I learn to some degree yes, traditionally a place of historic significance, but later also used for attractions in general.

Not sponsored by apple, and it is better than a camera symbol, which is commonly used. To find a suitable svg, I had to search for "command" (at svgrepo.com), though.

Because the symbol has such a long history of protective and cultural significance in the Scandinavian countries, it was chosen in the 1960s as the official road sign for places of interest. It was intended to guide travellers to places where history is still alive – and that is precisely how it eventually found its way into an international encyclopaedia of symbols, where it was discovered by Apple decades later.

This symbol is mainly recognised in two areas:

Technology (Apple): It is the symbol for the Command key (or Cmd key) on Apple keyboards. It is used to execute keyboard shortcuts on a Mac.

Culture & Transport: On road signs and maps, particularly in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe, it denotes a place of interest or a cultural monument.

Historically, the symbol is also known as a looped square, St John’s Cross or Bowen’s knot.
