Good news is that they pulled it.

Bad news is that during its run, META probably sucked all of the existing images that were in Instagram and fed them to their LLM with the excuse that there were people who hadn't turned their theft feature off, and that of course for them means that they agreed to have all of their shit stolen.

Opt out of something? They would reset it to whatever they felt like. Got where I was checking settings once a week. It is beyond me why anyone puts up with facebook.
