This provides polygons with coordinates for towns, both large and small. There are several services, but the relevant one is "stednavn". It requires a free token.

The API facilitates searches, but you might just want to fetch all for local storage as it is going offline in November.

I'm currently not near a computer, but I can provide you a working link in the next day.

You might be the perfect person to ask this: Do you know where I could get the city boundary data of the major Danish cities? Not the huge municipality boundaries, but really the cities themselves, like on google maps, see images. They don't seem to exist on OSM. I have this problem mostly in Denmark, Spain, and Italy.
