Neither of us are super active but want something basic and simple that we can use for 30 minutes or so a few times a week to keep us in shape. We have a new baby so need something at our house that is fast and simple. Doing some research I was thinking about getting this YOSUDA exercise bike with Magnetic resistance bike

I want something that is magnetic to reduce wear and tear and will fit our sizes. (I am 6 ft 1" and she is 5 ft. 1"). It says it works for 6 foot so it should work for me if just a little small. Has anyone used this? Do they like it? Is it cheap junk?

It was the pedals as well. I figured this was less BIFL but wanted to see if there was a suggestion

Within the first few weeks, one of the crank arms (where the pedals attach) fell off so they replaced that part and a week or so later it happened again so they let me return it for a refund and I bought a Peloton that I’ve used multiple times every week since then.

The driver collecting it said they had lots of similar returns.

Looking on the Amazon reviews for your model, 509 reviews rated pedal strength as a negative with some reviewers talking about how they fell off.

If you plan to use it mainly as a coat hanger then it’s probably BIFL, but if you plan to ride it I’d say most likely not.

Peloton is a big commitment as it requires a subscription as well as the expensive hardware (although you may find a used one locally) but if you like it, the content can motivate and drive you.

Another poster mentioned Concept 2 and rowing - all the rowers in every commercial gym I’ve ever been in have been Concept 2, if you maintain them, in a home environment they can most definitely be BIFL.

Might get one of those instead of a bike

Good luck! For the rowers, all versions will give a good workout, but the monitor has changed over the years. You can check the production era for all the models (A through D/E).

It’s a good company, making good products. As far as I can tell, they sell all the parts for their equipment going back 30+ years. I personally have over 6 million meters on qmy bike erg in addition to my family members. For me it was a bit of a dance getting it shipped out, but if you’re in USA it’ll be fine.

The BikeErg is a basic machine (compared to a peloton with screen), is moderately costly, and makes white noise, but it is good quality and effective. Their rowers are the established standard, and worth considering as well.
