I noticed that many articles are shifting from trying to defend "AI" (it's indefensible, I think they've realized?) to doubling down on the disinformation that what is called "AI" (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude) is the same as ML applications that have become truly revolutionary over the last ten years, AND this technology is *inevitable*, so we "need to shift from being anti-AI to being midwives and partners to the coming "AI" future" so we can shape it.

Yes, a lot of you don't want AI posts in your feed (or pick any other topic) but the solution isn't to keep "Al People" from joining Mastodon, any more than it is keeping marginalized communities off of Mastodon.

It's unfortunate because, as in your Mozilla example, there is still time to shape how Al is used in our industry. It's better to engage and try to influence it versus stick your head in the sand and have the change thrusted upon you.
