There is also lots of info for new people on the website at https://fedi.tips (especially the section at the top marked "Quick Start").

The PeerTube app is for people who have PeerTube accounts, it won't work with Mastodon accounts. However, you can follow and interact with PeerTube accounts entirely within Mastodon, more info at https://fedi.tips/peertube-video-hosting-on-the-fediverse/
