Argentines, Chileans and Uruguayans do not consider themselves South Americans, indigenous or Creoles, they consider themselves Europeans and European descendants, they have an incomprehensible pride, they only have to see their surnames which are all mostly Hispanic, Italians etc. They think they are superior. In the 50s as the little Europe. the indigenous people, mostly , are persecuted, accused of being terrorists, imprisoned or killed directly

It was (afaik) a much smaller effort, fortunately, and today there’s a fair amount of ethnic diversity in those places (even if less than the rest of the country)

The war dead meant Paraguay's ratio of women to men took ages to rebalance, IIRC. And still they didn't exactly lose.
