For me it's something I only used and having this feels like the rug being pulled out from under me. But to have people that you spent your precious time building something together is a whole different level of suckage. The word coming to mind for how it must feel is betrayal.

The same network effect was there with previous controversial topics - curiously motivated people wanting to align with corporate values.

Keeping out systemd or rejecting newer gnome shenanigans looks trivial in comparison.

That's not easily forked. And a lot of other distros are based on it so those would be ruled out as well

Looking at how all the forks of various projects fared (attracted the wrong kind of people, stalled, questionable decisions, burned out the forkers…) doesn't give me much hope 😞

I understand the frustration of the opposed Debian devs though. That must really suck to learn this way what your colleagues' actual values are
