Most traditional electricity generation needs water for cooling and will be switched off when river water levels get too low, because of the same persistent drought.

What do they think will happen when random coal, gas and nuclear power stations have to be switched off because the cooling systems are inoperable? Journalists 🤦.

The fossil fuel companies know that one way or another their days are numbered. So they absolutely have to get as much oil and gas out of the ground and sold as they can in the next few years, and delay the energy transition for as long as possible.

It is not net zero that risks blackouts, it is new energy sources replacing old fossil ones.
