It's the fact that Elon as a person takes a loan for his living expenses, yachts and whatever, against the company's worth, then takes out more loans to pay them. That only works as long as SpaceX gets continuously more valuable - but he can basically talk people into believing that. It's... So far removed from regular people's lives, so far away from the rules of our lives.

I don't think is a wasted project. As far as I can tell they've pushed & technology forward and generally popularized as a viable alternative. While is a controversial use of energy I've not heard an argument that is somehow worse than their competitors. My concessions: his attitude to 'free speech' means he allowed terrible use of . He's allowed to become a cesspool of problems.
