I remember memorizing all my friends' phone numbers, and when I tried to call a girl, I had to speak to their Dad first because he always answered the phone.

We had cloth hangers with two digit phone numbers to the local cloth shop, fuzes with two digit phone number to the local electrical company. The only numbers we wrote down was distant relatives that had area and/or country codes in front of the number.

And there were some of my friends whose phone numbers I memorised.
