Nej tak" sign was that it didn't picture nuclear power as something bad, it showed a smiling, antropomorphic sun, "natural energy". This negates or softens the verbal message and invites people to join the cause in good mood. Even the text is modified oppositional, as it uses the polite 'nej tak', "no thank you".

From a pure communication efficiency perspective, the data center logo is perhaps stronger because image and text reinforce each other more clearly, and borrows meaning from referencing the original.

But I wouldn't call it "lovely" in the same humane sense as the friendly anti-nuclear logo.

The oligarchs profiting from it fund a US government that is disappearing people into camps. Environmentally, we might as well drive around the neighbourhood in fossil-fuel cars throwing leaking AA batteries into compost bins as use generative AI and draw on data centres. I have yet to hear of a use case that is so critical for humanity that we should pay that high price.

The Smiling Sun was designed on the back of an envelope by 21-year-old activist Anne Lund in Aarhus. It's commemorated to this day in a landmark mural in the city centre.

Funny you mention wearing the logo on a rain-jacket. That usage was in her thinking. She's quoted in this article:

“It needed to be pretty enough for women to wear it on their overcoats to indicate a kind, but firm ‘no thanks’. No clenched fists, no scary images."
