There's an orthodoxy that public services may not compete with the private sector & I think we're well past due for throwing that nonsense into the sun.

When the private sector refuses to supply what people need in a reasonably decent fashion, the public sector should just do that & private businesses can take their whining & get stuffed.

Of course, many of these problems go away if we start enforcing anti-monopolization, so let's also do that.
