<![CDATA[My mom used to do environmental activism.]]>My mom used to do environmental activism. All by herself, she got earth day started, got a recycling center going in town, and was a whistleblower about Dow chemical using agent orange. She was mentioned in Time Magazine for it.

Then she went to a barbecue for environmentalists. They put her down for wearing red lipstick and long nails.

And then her activism days petered out because she didn't want to hang out with these people.

It's extremely tiresome, but if I withdraw, the unconscious patriarchal patterns win? Have to take a lot of breaks, though, and do yoga ❤️ And of course: meditate 😍

But she stopped doing organized things because it was required that she change her personality and aesthetic. I think your message should be sent to people who would reject help because they look down on women who wear lipstick. And she still did more in her lifetime than any of them, or any current environmental activist I know.
