I'm not counting things stacked on top of each other, e.g. six containers that I can carry in one hand becomes "one thing". I often have 2-3 things in each hand, e.g. if some of them are lightweight and I can slip my pinky into some hole. I can have things tucked under my armpit, so that's two more. One thing on my back if there's a sling or I have a bag. Last thing I carry in a big embrace. I would be burdened, but that's 10.
