my father-in-law gets these at his place in central minnesota. he loves to point them out, whether they're in bloom or not, every time we visit.

The law is that it's legal to transplant them in small quantities, meaning nurseries and exporters can't strip large number of plants from the wild to sell in Canada or export to other countries.

(Now I know why).

But I think it's legal to dig them up to transplant to your property πŸ‘.

Not as many out here in BC, when compared to our former cottage in Ontario. Tried to grow one here in BC once but it didn't take.

And my favourite -- of our 5 dogs over the years -- was named Trillium.

When I see a Trillium now, it brings back many wonderful memories. ~sigh~
