What to look for: Villages, hamlets, woods, meadows, scrub, streams, mauntain peaks (and saddles 😉 ), highways, roads, tracks and (very little/few) paths. Presence, recognicability, visibility, contrast.

1) OSM Pastel - my own vector style, OMT tiles from .
2) OpenStreetMap Carto - the default, raster, classic OpenStreetMap.
3) OpenMapTiles OMT vector - the standard vector style for vector tiles, looking a lot like Carto.
4) OpenFreeMap Bright - the style from which I derived OSM Pastel.

Notice the value of SDF icons in OSM Pastel.

Some of the dilemmas of cartography clearly shows in the differences 🙂
