unsurprisingly, the EU Commission has been unwilling to extend that sort of deal to the UK; so once again (this time in the UK's inability to see that leaving the EU's regime for product testing might cause some issues for exporters) the EU by merely enforcing the Bloc's rules is seen as obstructive.

If you see a club, and think "I would like to have all of those club advantages" then you have two choices:

1. Join the club to get those advantages
2. Do not join the club and do not get those advantages

You cannot look at the Scouts and say to yourself "I want to do all those amazing things with them" and then complain when they say "No, unless you join" because you refused to join!

The idea that any referendum in the UK on any subject would produce a "desirable" outcome is flawed.

You can't be rational about these things in isolation. Posing the question is nearly impossible.
