BTW one of the week's examples was writing little custom apps with an AI assistant & it just occurred to me that this idea - that everybody can & should make custom code - is another view of progress already debunked by reality.

We've heard for decades that "everybody" can/should do [thing] themselves - from art to engineering - because computers will take away the entry barrier & so far it hasn't been true once, because the challenge is almost always the process, not the entry barrier.
