The US's threat of limitless retaliation for the EU's attempting to gain a modest amount of independence from Elon Musk's Starlink is all the evidence needed that the EU needs far greater independence from any single source, let alone when that source is controlled by Elon Musk.

This doesn't mean it hasn't to have business with other countries, it "simply" means that hasn't to be administered by an external country.
Every country shall have some similar right, to be called an autonomous state. Will this solve every state's internal problems? Surely not, but it's a basic principle of individual states' freedom, IMHO.
