I don’t often shop in this shopping centre. I had to find a specific shop so went to look it up on the giant You Are Here poster map with a store index. They’ve replaced it with a giant touch-screen you have to operate, clicking in & out of pages while the nearest 107 people follow along. Probably shows ads too. (I didn’t use it.) A waste of time. A waste of the customer’s and planet’s energy. The poster map was at-a-glance simple. It worked for decades. Such a stupid case of #enshittification.

Exactly correct. The old at-at-glance poster was a traditional shopfinder and wayfinder - a list of shop names and categories with corresponding numbers on the map. As you say, the 'what else is here?' function is fundamental. I might be looking for, say, scented oil for a candle burner. I think I'm looking for that pharmacy I can't remember the name of, then I spot a health shop on the index, closer to where I'm standing. New and useful information, at a glance.
