Ours was after that thing. We had six flights, all with LAN. Every one was delayed and or over-booked. The three flights from Sao Paulo all went from the same gate, always along with at least one other. Snafu always.

On an internal flight in Brazil there was a guy standing in the aisle two rows ahead of us. Boarding finished and he's still there. Cabin staff took turns to come up to him. An hour passed. (This was a Brazilian airline. We'd boarded 45 mins after scheduled departure) After another 30 mins, they started asking for a volunteer to deplane and take a later flight. $200 and another 30 mins and a young woman stood up.

They had issued the same seat to two passengers.

I consider this my biggest achievement in modern aviation. I mean, who else has made two planes of 200 passengers to be late for more than an hour. Sorry about that, this crime happened in ~2009. To my defense, it was the mistake of the personnel, not me.

For years afterwards, I also got some mark on my travel documents, because I was constantly getting "randomly" checked by security. It stops feeling random if you get checked for all the flights you ever take.

It was very early (6 AM or so) flight, so I wasn't very awake, and didn't notice this. Also all the 3-4 personnel checking my documents failed to notice it.

Only in the plane they started going through the documents for the second time, and then I looked at my boardin pass... I went to the crew and the situation was solved. We left like an hour late, so also the return flight was late.
