- Use hashtags in your public posts so that people can find them in hashtag searches. More info at https://fedi.tips/what-are-hashtags-how-do-i-use-them-on-mastodon-and-the-fediverse

Doing both gives your public posts maximum visibility.

Doing neither means your public posts aren't searchable at all.

The full text search option only affects Mastodon searches.

However, if you post something with a public visibility setting, that means it is visible to anyone who browses your profile. There's nothing technically stopping outsiders from scraping public posts into search engines or wherever.

If you want to keep a post safe from search engines etc, the best option is to use followers-only or mentions-only for its visibility. More info at https://fedi.tips/who-can-see-my-posts-in-mastodon-how-do-i-send-dms-in-mastodon/

I'm using dashes to distinguish it from instructions where you have to do every step.

So, you can do either one dash or the other or both or neither, there isn't a sequence to work through 🙂

Also numbering them make it clear doing 1/ + 2/ listed points (currently you only have dashes which are easy to miss as required list)

I've made the hashtag guide a bit clearer that irrelevant hashtags are spam and may lead to being blocked.
