It will be mixed with technical writing and ideological stances of a commons.

Challenging the narrative that email is hard to run (and that you shouldn't do it)

I'm part of running an email commons - a community-hosted email service with around 200 email accounts on a small server.

Our goal is to provide an email-infrastructure to the members of the commons; NOT to grow infinitely, and become yet another central service, waiting to be enshittified.

We would like for more email-commons to sprout, and would like to help with that, by making the guide that will be freely accessible

This is not some business-development we need funding for. It's only for developing this guide that could help other communities provide important non-parasitic infrastructure for their local communities.

Do you have ideas on where to apply for funding, please let me know

And also feel free to boost!

#email #funding #communityhosting

Reply to Need tips on where to apply for funding, for making a guide (book?) on how to make your own community-hosted email commons. on Sat, 01 Aug 2026 08:49:12 GMT

@ruben how do your plans compare to https://mwl.io/static/books//run-your-own-mail-server.html?

svuorela@helvede.net
