I saved a laptop on with an 8th gen Intel, Win 11 on an HDD made it all but unusable. It's not exactly snappy on Fedora KDE, but it doesn't take 5 minutes to open Dolphin.

Starting to do the same for my relatives. We have saved hundreds if not thousands of euros by continuing to use those laptops beyond the planned obsolescence date set by Microsoft or Apple. My daily driver is 11 years old and runs Linux Mint like a dream.
