Retweets on Mastodon are called "boosts", indicated by arrows 🔄 or a rocket 🚀. This shares the post with your followers.

There's also a third option called "bookmarks", which adds the post to a private list of posts you want to read later. No one can see your bookmarks.

Yeah, I mean this is a problem that is common on internet platforms: does a like (or whatever it is called) mean you enjoy something or does it mean you appreciate being told about something?

Different people may have different approaches to this, definitely.

For me, it's a bit more neutral... I've read what you've said and I'd like to acknowledge that. And I probably don't vehemently disagree with it. Depends on who the post is replying to, though. For replies on other people's posts, it is more like "I like that reply and agree with it" or "it's a question/angle worth considering"

If for any reason I don't find them boostable, the appreciation is shown with a star. I think a lot of us do this.
