So I removed the old cover and decided to replace it entirely. The tapering cylinder part on the old cover acts as the trap/u-bend for the drain, so it's important to have an airtight seal where it slots into the hole. The first thing I did was get a replacement trap insert that *doesn't* have the annoying top part. Now the plumbing is intact and I just had to deal with the awkward shape of top.

Maybe that sounds paranoid to some (who haven't been paying attention to things like Ring cameras), but keep in mind, this is a corporation with stockholders. If they can include their code into your net connected machine, then they can update it to upload the camera feed. Now all it takes is someone willing to pay.Maybe you're printing guns, maybe you're printing dildos, maybe you're just printing figurines of trademarked characters. I'm sure Disney won't expect a licensing fee for that adorable Grogu you just printed for your neice.#3dprinting
