    Hello NodeBB community,

I’m managing a NodeBB forum and have noticed an issue with the click behavior on topic titles. Currently, when users click on a topic title in the topic list, they are taken to the first post of the thread rather than to their first unread post. Users need to specifically click on the “last reply” indicator on the right side to be taken to the last unread post.
This creates a frustrating user experience, especially for longer threads, as users need to scroll through all the posts they’ve already read or manually find their place again.

I’ve looked through the admin settings but couldn’t find an option to change this behavior. Is there a setting or configuration option to make topic title clicks go to the first unread post rather than the first post of the thread?
If there’s no built-in setting for this, could anyone suggest a plugin that provides this functionality or share some guidance on how to implement this change?

    NodeBB Version: 4.2.0

Thank you in advance for your help!

I tested that out here. I think it is happening here, but I cna ot be 100% becasue i kept getting a ton of errors:

      Error
timeout reached while waiting for fetchSockets response

Yes, indeed, if it is not happening, it would be indicative of great user experience and expectation that on a long topic when clicking to view it they are right back where they left off. This is especially so when there is infinite scroll.

BITD with pagination, this was less an issue iirc as you coudl easily reorientate yourself due to the long topic thread being chopped dup into smaller page chunks

Now i start to ream of my Fruit Machine navigation bar

What is the value of this setting?

        image.png

The last read logic only kicks in for posts that have more than that. Seems to work on this forum, if I click a topic with more than 5 posts it takes me to my last read post.

baris Thank you, Changing this setting indeed solved the problem (I don’t understand what the purpose of this setting is and what it’s used for, in my opinion it’s completely unnecessary)
