It is getting increasingly difficult to stop downloads of pdfs, if you know how to.
Also iphones have very accurate select text from screen built in, so they can grab the text from pdfs very accurately

@julian yes I never expected it so function on Mastodon, of course not.
but when putting that symbol combination into Mastodon post, and sending it to nodebb you would think it would trigger nodebb side.
Actally its hard to understand how it doesnt activate spoiler on nodebb side, given its the same 2 characters.
Im more perplexed, than bothered, that it doesnt!

In Federated messages, the !> doesnt work even between nodebb instances that have the plugin.
Not a big issue but its actually interesting that it doesnt work.
For example here a mastodon site sends that code in a post to a nobebb site that has spoilers installed,
when it displays the post why isnt the Functionality triggered?

Is the word Spoiler hardcoded?
How to change if I want it to say Answer, for example?

Also if my spoiler has 2 lines how to put page break in

Its been the bain of my life!
Ive said it before, Emails is the biggest issue with nodebb

If the menu could be reworked somehow to make it clearer / work better it would massively help nodebbs adoptance. Because people have given up with nodebb because of it.

Just my thoughts on Lemmy, I have various issues with it not federating well to various site at times. I mention this only if you encounter testing issues with Lemmy, more likely the issue is their side.
It has some good features but its frustrating as the instance I use appears to have issues at times!

@Kichae Yes Lemmy isnt showing the posts in order it has them listed as x minutes ago! So thats something their end.
It may be the instance Im on hasnt updated and its been corrected since.

Im not being negative at all, it quite complicated to always collate everything. Part of the problem is that although the ActivityPub is a ‘standard’ the other softwares have their own ways and interpretations.

CSS - dont get me started - the industry has been going in the wrong direction with this for the last 15 years. I wont bore you with my thoughts on this here, but its incredibly painful to get web pages to look ideal on all devices.

On a more constructive note, although most of us here will probably access nodebb from a computer, its important to remember 90%+ plus of users will access a forum from a phone.

Controversial as this is, if desktop nodebb was exactly mobile nodebb (i.e. in a narrow window) it may help its long term development. Shocking as that might sound, look at Telegram on web, its exactly mobile view, in a narrow pc window.
The point is, then the focus would be on optimising the mobile view, without splitting development efforts. At present the mobile view isnt as strong as the pc UI, and you cant do some Admin changes from it. Like setting up widgets as Ive previously posted about
