I agree. Though the point Bezoz was raising was more of a general "but we all HATE taxes" right sort of point.
And dudes like him have used this point to rob out city, state and federal budgets in every way possible for decades.
"but think of the nurse in Queens" the exact type of union job with modest benefits these clowns love to eliminate and turn into gig work.
All while offering her a few hundred bucks saving on taxes while he runs off with billions.
@futurebird @david_chisnall here in Texas, once you are over (I think) 65, you no longer have to pay property tax for schools. Because obviously you obtain no benefit at that point. I've had otherwise "progressive" friends tell me since they home schooled their kids they never should have had to pay these taxes as they got no benefit.
I pointed out to one of them that he had run an accountancy firm with employees who had been to public schools. Would it have been more valuable to him to have had to teach them to read and add and subtract on his own? Nevermind the rest of society. He had never thought of it that way.

@futurebird I hope enough people wake up to the fact that he's engaging in such obvious misdirection meaning he's aware that he's breaking the law (yes it's all technically legal and it's considered avoidance, not evasion - it shouldn't be). He has consciousness of guilt, and he's arrogant enough to think he can hide it.
The fact that he even feels compelled to try to hide it in public instead of skipping the interview, tells me he fears the guillotine. Things are getting better.

Yeah. I always end up investing in her schemes every time too. At least she tried to help me garden this morning.

@futurebird The serial scamming and cybercrime just shows she knows how to get things done. Which I’m sure will work out great for the voters.

I don’t even think about his fair share of taxes, I think he has too much damn money
The only reason to attack him is that amount of wealth should not exist

The other angle to this is that Republicans believe people who don’t pay taxes should not vote

@david_chisnall @datarama @futurebird Rory Stewart once mentioned on The Rest Is Politics, that he had asked some billionaires about the hoarding vs philanthropy. Ostensibly, they tend to develop a fear of gradually losing their power and political traction as their pot of money diminishes and they descend the league table of the globally wealthy. Whatever the truth of that, it certainly must be an odd position to be in psychologically.
I tend to think that the measure of wealth is how infrequently you have to think about money. Billionaires seem to do pretty badly in that scale. I suspect that the peak is somewhere in the $5-50M range: enough that it's self sustaining and the gains cover even pretty extravagant things you might want to buy for an individual to use / consume, not enough that you are significantly skewing the shape of society around you.
