@skavish@welley.social definitely not, I think it’s just a common sense approach to handling abandoned/unmanaged instances.
There were calls for this last year when spammers took advantage of abandoned servers with open registration and went absolutely nuts.
Does it rise to the level of an FEP? Maybe if combined with a couple other common sense approaches to forum admin <img class=“not-responsive emoji” src=“https://activitypub.space/assets/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f937.png?v=8161d5c9b56” title=“

if we want to signal to other servers that a server is abandoned we may need a FEP
but it looks like a local feature

@skavish@welley.social my understanding is that FEPs can be informational as well. So a sharing of best practices also qualifies as an FEP candidate.

admin has not logged in into a server for some time - by itself - does not mean much. it is bad only if there is spammer's infestation or smth.
if there is no infestation then why punish content from this server?

@skavish@welley.social you would only inhibit new content from the server. Better that than risk spam being spread from the unmanaged instance.
Happy to help draft/co-author

> Realistically, all content from an unmoderated site should go through a moderation filter.
I agree with this actually! There is more to federation than an on-off switch. I was talking to @ozoned@btfree.social about it this weekend, about how we have islands vs the open ocean, but we can also have open and closed archipelagoes (archipelagii?) — I forgot about what term we came up with, if at all.
Basically, a closed archipelago is an island network of oliphant fame. An open one filters content from servers outside the archipelago.

@kichae@wanderingadventure.party please help me come up with a better set of terms lol.
I think I heard @ariadne@social.treehouse.systems say “neighborhoods” as well.
Naming things sucks.
