              In Sweden you occasionally hear people say that the sheep tick Ixodes ricinus serves no purpose in nature. Apparently they believe that nothing eats it, which is probably not true. But anyway, I always reply, if you have a tick-centric perspective on nature, then no animal is more important than the sheep tick.
