I try to avoid making purchases on phone. Number 1, increase friction in spending money. And 2, I need at least one monitor, keyboard, and mouse so I can comparison shop across multiple tabs.

@stux This only applies to eva air where their website absolutely has to be running on 90s technology

@stux I don't buy anything on my phone.

@bencurthoys @stux
It's not just me that has that problem, then! -
@stux For sure. I don't want to be looking at something potentially costing hundreds of £/$ on a phone screen where I can easily accidentally brush the Buy Now button while trying to scroll down, or clear a bloody popup.
Or miss some fine print because it didn't fit on screen.

Sometimes mobile websites or apps will move things. Like full descriptions of items on the eBay app. You have to click something to see the (usually inadequate) description on mobile. On desktop it's all on the same page.
I only order food for delivery and small stuff at Amazon on my phone.

@stux I don't generally buy things on my phone because I *hate* "shopping" on my phone. I can't see it big enough or clearly enough and I need more desktop real estate to make proper comparisons. So yeah, I wait to buy things on the big computer too. Signed, a Gen-Xer.

Same… but it’s not the *size* of the purchase per se, but the complexity: I’m not willing to choose from different flights, compare prices, choose a thousand options while doing the perceptual equivalent of peering through a keyhole for as long as I have a choice.

@stux but you actually get better prices on the phone weirdly!
Like it's some dynamic pricing bogus but a lot of the time i have gotten better prices on hotels and flights on my phone -
@pmdj @MarcelNBG @piyuv @stux Oh no
Maybe we need 10 browser tabs AND 3 different phones to find the best deal now -

@stux Sitting on the thought of the purchase the rest of the day until I get home is so valuable.
Might think of alternatives, better deals, or if you need it at all.

@stux That's me. I just need a proper screen, a keyboard, and a well-oiled password manager for "big" purchases.

I never buy anything on my phone. You never really own a phone running a mainstream OS, and that means you can't really secure it. I wait till I get home and I can buy the goods on a Linux PC.

@stux Up to a certain point this does make sense. Depending on the device you use, prices may differ. By using a Mac/iphone in some cases you can increase the price of a purchase. The good 'ol PC could save you some money. An older android device might do the same trick.
