If you want to see that sort of landscape, the entire Palouse region looks like that in April/May when the winter wheat is growing. The only variety from the vivid green are the rape fields in vivid yellow.

When I first saw the M$ desktop image, I figured it was the Palouse until I learned it was actually Napa valley.
