This poll brought to you by me thinking about the scene of some mildly mannered gentleman going "I'll be right there, I just need to alert The Constabulary" to his friend on the phone, and then leaning down to sweetly inform his cat that he's going to be back home in about an hour or two...

Also: "Hold up, I have Porridge on my lap"
"Have you seen My Socks?"
etc.

@sinituulia

I'm having a hard time choosing between:
Sakdoekkie
Bliksimpie
My Sokkies
Pap
Die Polisie

[sinituulia@eldritch.cafe]

@Zumbador Utterly fucking delightful options, good grief

They're probably more funny looking to others than to me, but I've got:
Hantuuki (*edited for dialect)
Paskiainen
Sukkani
Puuro
Konstaapelisto

[algernon@come-from.mad-scientist.club]

@sinituulia I went with My Socks (zoknijaim in Hungarian), but the others were strong candidates too¹.

@sinituulia ooh I love "konstaapelisto"

Reminds me of a time in the 1970s when the security police came knocking at our door late at night looking for an escaped "terrorist" ( otherwise known as an activist)

My mother angrily demanded who was there disturbing us so late at night and this embarrassed voice answered:

"Konstabel Abel"

My mother just cracked up laughing.
The cops went away pretty quickly after that.

@sinituulia I picked "handkerchief". Or, translated from Swedish: Nose cloth >.>

[gulleko@kind.social]

@sinituulia Little Bastard is already a nickname for every cat I've ever had (usually when they have chewed/peed/puked on something), so I'll have to go with "Konstapeln"

[xinit@mastodon.coffee]

@sinituulia It was close, but both Handkerchief and The Constabulary are exceptional.

"Call The Constabulary, it's time for dinner!"

[rollotreadway@beige.party]

@sinituulia "Don't do that to my socks, My Socks!"

@sinituulia "The Mouse Police" (never sleeps)

@sinituulia The 4th one, which in Danish is "Grød" & is pronounced exactly like this
