@rtw Sure is! I will be buying a t-shirt with Samuel L on the front and Sigourney W on the back. Let the agents make sense of that one plus I really don't mind wearing those two.

@rtw Also be nice to know Sigourney will always have my back when out and about whilst Samel L will discourage any approaches.

you can fool every facial recognition system by wearing a plastic bag over your head

@p @JustinDerrick @rtw If only airport security would quit pulling me out of line to ask questions that are clearly answered by my "Don't ask questions about the bag on my head" shirt.

Instead you need a t-shirt that says: "I have health problems" and point to it whenever someone asks you a question.

Fun story: When I was traveling home I wore my "Watch Herzog" t-shirt for travel day. It's got a giant picture of Werner's face on it.

This fucked up every single facial recognition program both the Mexican and US passport control areas to the point that agents for both countries had to pull me aside and verify my identity the old fashioned way.

So t-shirts with big faces on them don't work well with AI Facial recognition systems. Figured that would be interesting information around here.

@rtw Where would one buy such a t-shirt? My Google-fu is, as is usual in this late stage internet time, letting me down 😕

                  @Cal @rtw

Temu is an excellent source of cheap t-shirts with giant faces on them. Typically under $6 (plus $3 S&H).

It helps if you're a fan of Bruce Willis, Blues Brothers, or the Three Stooges.

@rtw@mastodon.sdf.org the text on the shirt having something name-like on it may also have contributed

these sorts of vision models are notoriously susceptible to producing output that says, for example, that an image has a yellow fruit in it, if the image is of a piece of paper with the text "banana" written on it

@rtw if we can do it without puking, we should all wear shirts with trump's face on them. Or maybe a morph between trump and one of the Kardashians.

@Cal @rtw You can get any photo or image printed onto a t-shirt quite cheaply, so you can make a custom one yourself. Best done onto a brand new white t-shirt. Talking of which, you do know what the t in t-shirt stands for, don't you? It's Tyrannosaurus (because of the short arms).

THIS ^^^ is the thread I, for one, needed to see today.
Robo shares a story of a T-shirt with a large picture of Werner Herzog that fucks with facial recognition, and a host of randos chime in with suggestions, encouragement, and amusement.

Temu is an excellent source of cheap t-shirts with giant faces on them. Typically under $6 (plus $3 S&H).

It helps if you're a fan of Bruce Willis, Blues Brothers, or the Three Stooges.

@jakebrake @rtw I've never successfully bought something from Temu. I get sideswiped by the casino games and leave without buying anything.

There was some work recently published, or at least let out into media, about patterns on cars and suchlike that caused mechanical recognition devices to ignore them.
