It's been my experience that the vast majority of us simply walk around looking for ever-better choices to do their thinking for them. I can count on one hand how many people I've met who actually do their own thinking. Mostly they just regurgitate calibrated phrases put out by professional persuaders.
If I hear something like "Sleepy Joe" out of you, I write you off as an extension of someone else's mind and, sadly, someone who lopped off a big bit of their own humanity.

@entichahoosh @cmconseils #QRcodes do usually lead to websites, so besides the rish of #Quishing anything can be done, including #InfoStealing everyone's details they enter!

I would rather have a sheet of paper printed on an inkjet.

@Uair @cmconseils As a human without a mobile phone, I am starting to run into this... I walked away from an airport restaurant because they only had the QR thingy.
"I don't have a mobile, can you give me a real menu?"
They look at me like I'm an alien and shrug. "Nope". (I'm sure they had them, they were just being lazy.)
So I went to a different massively-overpriced restaurant!
@asmaloney @Uair @cmconseils If a restaurant can't be assed to put their menu on a shitty screen, chalkboard or elsewhere signposted then they certainly ain't worth the money they ask for.

@cmconseils Nope. I like it. Can order when I’m ready. Don’t have to wait/signal waiter for when I finally get my bill and can leave at my own terms. And don’t get judged for what I order or don’t order. Find the conventional restaurant setting always a bit prisonesque - from the moment you sit down you are at their mercy. Not with the QR codes.

I ate in a restaurant about a year ago that had a QR code to scan to see the menu on your phone. Trouble is my phone would not scan their QR code for some reason. They had no printed menus and did not know the web address that the QR code was supposed to send me. Technology fail. -

Agreed. If a restaurant's menu is ONLY available via QR code, that means they didn't want to bother cleaning their menus. If they can't be bothered to do THAT, what ELSE are they not cleaning?However, if restaurants offer physical menus with an OPTION to see a digital menu via QR code, I appreciate that. Those can be updated easily, be better to read, and cleaner. I don't completely trust restaurants or their previous visitors.

-everyone@cmconseils In SEA (Thailand, in particular) QR based menus are the norm & I f*cking hate it. Rarely a restaurant will have a printed menu. & most also require you to order & pay from your phone too.
I don’t really understand the *requirement* to force your customers to have a multiple hundred or even thousands of dollars piece of equipment, have it charged, have a mobile subscription for it, and bring it with them, just to be able to buy a $5 meal – especially in a “3rd world” country.
