@davethepitt it is a great book but you will likely wish to burn your Facebook/Instagram after reading it.
@nielsTFranck Fortunately I haven't had a Facebook account since 2016 and only have Insta to promote my writing and wish I could close that down. I also read Broken Code last year and that would have had me closing my FB down if I hadn't already.
I just wish as a creative I didn't have to use any of the big social platforms.

@davethepitt it's a crazy read. Or not. I mean they literally planned to promote the far right so they wouldn't get regulated. How any government (well, left leaning) wouldn't want to prioritise regulation is beyond me.

That's why I bought it - FB going Full Streisand.Reading it, it sounded a lot like a tell-all from one criminal, ratting out the others. So, I had mixed feelings by the end.

Agreed! Even for those of us who dumped FB and anything related to Meta* years ago, it's worth reading this book. The "lean in" monster is a particularly disturbing person, fits right in with zuck.

@davethepitt I ordered it from our local library last year. I love how libraries will get books for you, free if available from other libraries in the same county/city/borough or a small charge if they have to get it from elsewhere.

@davethepitt@mastodon.social done, looks like an eye opener. Facebook is like it’s owner, toxic. I jettisoned Facebook about two years ago, during one of their TOS fiascos.
