I scrolled past an interesting question that at the time did not have an answer. As I understand it, none of the interactions on a post (boost, favourite, bookmark) do that. Is there another way? Thanks in advance

No, it's not. There was a discussion about this on the Mastodon Github as this has been requested by quite a lot of people. If you are interested in the technical details it's at https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/7969
Apparently it would be difficult to do this with the current version of the protocol that servers use to communicate.
The nearest workaround I can think of is to bookmark the thread and check back later.
